Stix Bones

StixBrooklyn, USA, Home to some of the greatest talents the world has ever known delivers another talented individual whose gift has made him one of the finest musicians in the Tri – State Area. Stix Bones started playing drums at an early age. He developed a great passion for music listening to Funk and R&B, introduced to him by his older brother. After seeing performances by Brooklyn’s own The Fat Boys featuring Buffy the Human Beat Box, he became influenced to play Hip Hop. Stix jammed with rappers playing beats with his hands on the hood of cars, city bus windows, and tables in the school lunchroom. Stix’s career direction evolved when he entered college in Westchester, New York. He received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance. While in school, he gigged with his professors in local restaurants, nursing homes, and elementary schools. Stix often returned to New York City to sit in at jam sessions. Creating a buzz for himself he was called to play open mic sessions and landed his first weekly gig at Indigo Blue with the Teddy B. Quartet.

Stix has had the opportunity to perform with established NYC poets The Vibe Khameleons and Ms. Jessica Care Moore, as well as such legendary hip-hop acts Doug E. Fresh, De La Soul, Q- Tip of A.T.C.Q. and Rahzel of the Roots. He has toured colleges and performed at clubs, & festivals across the country and abroad such as: Harvard University, PAC at Purchase College, Sundance Film Festival, JVC Jazz festival, Minton's Playhouse, The Apollo Theater, The Minetta Lane Theater, The Blue Note London UK, and Le Boute De Jazz Paris, France As he continued to work with Hip Hop artist throughout the tri-state area, the jazz performances led Stix back to his training ground in jazz with his first full-length album entitled "Groove Like This". The album has graced the airwaves of more than 40 jazz radio stations in the US and 16 internet and satellite stations across the globe. It has charted in the top 10 on the digital jazz charts and made it to the top 20 jazz charts in France. A 2007 staple in smooth jazz radio! Stix Bones whose musical influences are a mix of Gospel, Hip Hop and Jazz musicians has built a respectable name amongst Jazz & Hip Hop artist and is credited as one of most talented drummers of our time.
